Over the bank holiday weekend, American rapper Tyler, the Creator performed a historic two-day takeover of All Points East in London's Victoria Park. Through meticulous curation, Tyler created a celebration of the musical styles and influences that inspire him, with a bill that brought together some of the best acts in hip-hop, R&B, indie and alternative music; the final weekend of All Points East 2026 was set for an exhilarating start.
Friday proved to have the heavier lineup of the two days. Rap duo Clipse captivated the audience early in the evening, with powerful visuals, flawless flows and tight drum loops. While Sexyy Red overcame a delayed start to deliver one of the day's most thrilling sets. Her brand of rap dripped with energy and left the packed-out North Stage tent in a state of revelry.
A clear highlight of the day came from hardcore band Turnstile, as their unique blend of heavier and more melodic tunes sounded immense under summer showers. The camera work for the screens helped to enhance the experience, rotating from the band's raw performance to the pits in the audience. A surprise cover of the Stone Roses track "I Wanna be Adored" acted as a reprieve from the intensity, before the band launched back into a more feral affair. Under the steadily building rain, the crowd became a sea of limbs writhing to the thundering rhythm of the band.
With the final acts closing out the other stages, thousands made their way to the East Stage for the main event. There was not long to wait until Tyler, the Creator took to the stage, and when he emerged, he arrived with bombast. Owning the stage, he seamlessly moved through material from different eras. One moment delivering spiked barbs behind a wall of pyro, the next softly singing heartbreaking ballads. Accompanying the sonic sensations, each song became a canvas as the gigantic stage produced visuals which made every performance feel like its own world.
With a successful festival takeover, Tyler has shown just how unstoppable his momentum is. There are few artists at his level that still produce such eclectic music and manage to retain their artistic vision. This vision could be seen in the visuals and curation of the festival. From the riotous mosh pits to the gentle swaying in the summer sun, every one of the tens of thousands of fans left the day with new memories of their favourite artists and newly discovered music.
