A mouthwatering serving of Pure Scottish Metal for a sold out evening in Bristol.

Scottish metalcore band ‘Bleed From Within’ are in Bristol tonight, at Electric, as part of their ‘The Dying Sun Tour’ with support from Danish death metal band ‘Baest’ and US deathcore outfit ‘Disembodied Tyrant’.

Baest have cemented their place as a leading force in modern metal since their explosive debut in 2018 with their album titled Danse Macabre. There is already a decent sized crowd and amongst them, a certain kind of chaos that only a certain kind of band can create – and when Baest hit the stage, that chaos arrives instantly. From the first crushing riff, the Danish five-piece waste no time reminding everyone in the room why they have become one of the most exciting forces in modern death metal. Thick, grinding guitar tones fill the venue while the rhythm section lock into a relentless groove that feel equal parts punishing and hypnotic. These guys are simply impressive, massive grins across all of their faces – they sure love playing live, that is for sure! Frontman Simon Olsen dominates the stage with a commanding presence, delivering cavernous growls that sound even more monstrous live than on record. His interaction with the crowd is constant urging pits to open, fists to rise and voices to roar back the lyrics. The response is immediate: a swirling mosh pit that rarely stops moving. For the last song, Simon heads into the crowd and commands his own circle pit it truly is a moment of ‘Simon Says’. Musically, Baest are incredibly tight. The guitar work balances old-school death metal brutality with razor-sharp precision, riff after riff landing with bone-crushing weight. Every breakdown and tempo shift feels deliberate, giving the set a powerful momentum that keep the crowd locked in from start to finish.

When Disembodied Tyrant take the stage, it is clear the night is about to descend into something far heavier and far darker than what the crowd might have expected.

Blending symphonic grandeur with crushing deathcore brutality, the band delivers a set that feels cinematic in scale but absolutely devastating in impact. Frontman Blake Mullens has a commanding presence at the centre of it all. His vocal performance is astonishingly diverse, shifting between guttural lows, piercing shrieks, and monstrous growls that seem almost inhuman at times. Live, these vocals carry an intensity that make every breakdown hit even harder. One moment, we have demonic vocals and then the next moment, the crowd are treated to the politest and most calm “Hello Bristol!” Dominic Petrocelli, on the lead guitar, delivers crushing technical riffs that seamlessly intertwined with the dramatic symphonic layers. Lucas Koughan, on the bass, is visibly quite the opposite of Dominic. Tall and long haired, delivering speed, aggression and tone banded with his high-energy playing style. The crowd response reflects just how well the band’s sound translates live. Mosh pits and wall of deaths erupt during the heaviest sections, while the more atmospheric passages give the crowd brief moments to catch their breath before the next sonic assault lands. Overall, an excellent and effortlessly brilliant performance from one of the most innovative acts in modern deathcore.

So that is the support bands done and time for the main act next. Five minutes to go and ‘Livin’ On A Prayer’ comes on the crowd are singing along, fists up in the air, excellent.

Smoke surrounds the rear of the stage, now lit up green and drummer Ali Richardson is the first to arrive, drumsticks in hand, he raises both hands in the air and returns the rapturous applause from the crowd. Rhythm guitarist Steven “Snev” Jones walks out next, followed by bassist Davie Powan and then lead guitarist Craig “Goonzi” Gowans. With the arrival of vocalist Scott Kennedy on stage, the atmosphere shifts from anticipation to pure chaos. Launching straight into ‘Zenith’ from their 2025 album of the same name, the band wastes no time unleashing a wall of sound—tight riffs, thunderous drums and a crowd that immediately erupts into a sea of movement. ‘The End Of All We Know’ takes the night into the next gear, utter disbelief on everyone’s faces given that we are only into the second song of the night – brave, very brave! Scott commands the stage with relentless energy. His vocals are as fierce live as they are on record, even more so, switching effortlessly between guttural roars and sharper shouts that cut straight through the mix. ‘Pathfinder’ is up next and these lads from Glasgow are hell bent on creating a long-lasting impact in the West Country tonight! What really sets Bleed From Within apart live is their ability to combine technical musicianship with raw power. They are not just heavy, they are controlled chaos, delivering performances that feel both explosive and polished. Between the songs, Scott keeps the crowd engaged – grabbing mobile phones from the crowd and taking selfies with Davie, encouraging circle pits and singalongs that the audience deliver with full force. He thanks the support bands and reiterates how they as a band are extremely excited to be on this headline tour. Ali and Davie are having a fantastic time tonight while Goonzi and Snev’s deadly twin guitar attack combo delivers massive grooves and melodic leads that balances brutality with precision. Every breakdown hits like a hammer and the crowd respond exactly as expected: bodies flying, fists raised and the floor shaking under the weight of the pits. Baest vocalist Simon joins in to sing on ‘The God Complex’ and the band also dedicate ‘Invisible Enemy’ to long-term fellow metalcore band Bury Tomorrow.

One of the standout aspects of the show was just how tight, precise and professional the band sounded. Despite the sheer aggression of their music, everything was executed with impressive precision. The rhythm section locked in perfectly, giving the songs an enormous punch that filled the venue. By the end of the set, sweat-drenched fans were still chanting for more. It is the kind of show that reminds you why metal gigs are so addictive: loud, communal and completely electrifying. We are treated to ‘I Am Damnation’ and ‘In Place Of Your Halo’ brings tonight’s show to a close. The setlist leans heavily into fan favourites and newer material, each track landing harder than the last. The energy never dips, it totally escalates as the night progresses. By the time they reach the final songs, the entire room feels like it was on the brink of collapse from the intensity.

A ferocious, high-energy performance that proves Bleed From Within are operating at the very top of their game live. If this tour is anything to go by, they are only getting heavier, louder and more unstoppable with every show. The Glaswegians are oozing confidence and rightly so they head to North America for most of April and May before hitting the European festivals in the summer of 2026.
